Is social science related to social care?

Would dropping Science be a mistake?

  • Okay, so I'm in my last year of high school with an average of a 4.2 GPA and an relatively good ACT score. I am thinking about dropping my Anatomy class so that I could have two off periods for the first time ever lol. My current schedule is pretty full: AP Calculas Off Anatomy (the class I want to drop) AP Psychology AP Literature Lifetime Fitness Yearbook I was just wondering if dropping my science class would be a mistake if I want to get into big universities (such as Northwestern or University of Chicago). I've already taken 3 years of science and I got A's in all those classes. What I'm asking here is: Do colleges really care that I take 4 full years of science considering my past academic achievement? I checked the admissions requirements for all the schools and they say "3-4 years of science". But idk.... *I'm considering going to school for humanities, but was also thinking going into the medical field. I just figure I could just take all that Anatomy/Medical related stuff at Uni.

  • Answer:

If you are going to be in the sciences, I would recommend that you have 4 years of science in high school. Even if you do have to take anatomy again in college, previous experience would make the class a lot easier, giving you more time to focus on other classes or doing fun things like hanging out on the quad. I prefer to err on the side of caution. I think it would be a better idea to have taken the class and not need it, then to not have taken the class and needed it.

First things first, make sure you have the required amount of credits to graduate. If you do not have enough science credits, do not drop the class. If you are considering going into the medical field, they like you to take as many science and math classes as possible. If you are going to med school, your science class will cover necessary information. Personally, I would not recommend dropping it, especially if it is Anatomy. You are learning things that are valuable to the medical field. Dropping the period just so you could have extra time off is not suggested. I would continue the class and get the information you need.
