What is the homecoming dance like??

What's a Homecoming dance like?

• I used to go to a tiny private school and we didn't have dances. But next year (grade 11 for me) I'm going to a public school. I'm just wondering what homecoming dance might be like. My school has about 900 students from grades 8 to 12 and its a pretty wealthy school in a rich area, incase that makes a difference. Are all grades invited to homecoming? How formal is it? Do you have to go? Is it a big event? Just wondering about the basics. Also I know its a big thing in the states, but I live in Canada - do we even have homecoming here??? Thanks!

  Homecoming is a dance with all grades invited and you don't have to come. You usually pay to get in. Its not as formal as prom and most say not as big as prom. You usually wear shorter dresses and guys just wear a collared shirt and tie. They play popular music and you just dance or hang out with friends all night. Some like it, some don't. Some juniors and seniors prefer only going to prom and say homecoming is not as fun/ cool/ exciting. I like it tho
