What would be a good major to take in college?

What classes should I take for my junior year in high school, so it looks good for college?

  • I need to hurry up and decide on what classes to take for my junior year. I want them to look good and help me with getting into a decent college. Problem is, I don't want my life to be stripped away from me, I still want some free time to actually do things. Basically, I am trying to decide between these classes: English III or English III AP (I had an A in English II last year). U.S. History, AP US History, or College History? (I had an A in history) Calculus Ap or Pre Cal. ( I had a C in Algebra II honers, but that is mostly because I didn't do homework) Biology II Ap or Chemistry II AP (I had a B in Chemistry last year and year before I had a B+ in biology. The thing that makes this hard to decide on is we have 2 Chemistry II teachers, one who is suppose to be good, and my teacher last year, who isn't so good. Just that chance I might get her again scares me) The remaining two classes in my schedule include: Studio Guitar and Spanish II Please leave me your word as to what I should take. I really don't want 5 hours of homework a night though.. -Thank you.

  • Answer:

I'd say take regular English III (AP will demand a lot of writing and time; leave AP English for Senior year). AP U.S. History (will be a lot of writing but it's the type that you can live by). Pre Calculus. (Calculus is for people that really DO get math and are willing to spend a lot of time with it after school and do all the homework without failing). I'd take Biology AP because I understood Biology better than Chemistry (and I wouldn't have to worry about getting a "not so good" teacher). However, I personally am taking AP Chem. next year. I'm challenging myself (I made an A in Chemistry but.. I really didn't understand the class; I retook a bunch of tests and quizzes). I'd take Spanish II and more Spanish because colleges love to see that you've spent a few years of a foreign language and th more fluent and experienced you are the better. Studio Guitar is great because if you plan on attending a liberal arts college they like to see that you've been into fine arts. *There will be times in which you'll need to make some sacrifices with your time and spend those 5 hours. I do understand that you don't wanna be so stressed out; but in the end, all the hard work will pay off. Trust me. ;)
