What does it take to skip a grade in school?

How can i skip a grade?

  • Hi, I’m 12 and in 7th grade. I want to be able to go to 9th grade next year for A LOT of reasons. I’m not really sure what I should do to do that. Is there like a summer program I can take that will just let me skip a grade? It there some sort of test in Virginia that I can take to skip a grade. Can I just ask my principal t switch me to 8th grade classes? What should I do? Before you answer this I just want you to know that I am smart and I have almost all As and maybe 1 or 2 Bs. Lastly there is a high school that I need to apply to around January. Please tell me what I should do. It would be great if you could try and keep the, “you can’t" or the "It's impossible" to skip a grade comments to a minimum 

    If you don't have a crazy prodigy-like intelligence, don't skip a grade. If you had all A's and started to get bored with your curriculum, then I could see it but I don't think you are ready for high school. Also, there is a huge difference between high school and middle school, and high schoolers don't appreciate younger kids being in their classes- trust me I have experienced it firsthand. Enjoy middle school and don't get too far ahead of yourself.
