How to find your place in high school?

• Im in my senior year in high school and I never seem to fit in anywhere. There are these cliques at my school like one for example are the popular kids so theres a mixture of guys and girls. There have been times I've hung out with them and even though it looked like things were fine on the outside, on the inside I felt like the fifth wheel meaning I didnt belong, it was like I was there but not really there. I dont really have friends but minor acquaintances that I can say hi to if I see them but thats it. I sit alone at lunch and dont really get involved in activities at school. No matter what I do, what I say I just feel like the odd one out. In fact there was a dance tonight in which I did not go to because of the possibilty of being alone while everyone else is hanging out with there friends. I feel like people just dont want to be around me and that sucks, I am pretty introverted but Ive always been in denial about it until now. Not only that but there are specific groups at my school, theres one with the popular in-crowd people, another who are hip hop oriented, another involved with drama, dance etc, and the jocks. Regardless of the groups there are, in comparison to them I feel like there better than me because they have something they're known for There is nothing else I can do, I'm not the best in school and I suck at sports and I feel like I'm going nowhere in my life because of this. Im not confident about prom so I dont even know if I should show up. Things just get worse and worse everyday, any advice would be great considering how I feel right now

  Hmmm...well I know you said you suck at sports...but you should at least try something...cross country is pretty easy because you eventually get better...trust me, you always make new friends while in a sport/club. Try talking to people more...I know its really awkward,but just ask a nice group of people if you can sit with them...its not like they'll say no. Eventually you'll get to know them. The reason people might not be asking you to sit with them at lunch is because their intimidated...like I always see this kid who sits by himself...sometimes I think of inviting him over but I just think "oh,he probably just likes it better by himself" Good luck :)
