Can I get into UCLA, UCSD, or CalState if..?
-
I'm finishing up my freshman year of high school now. My grades aren't great, I've been getting mostly Bs and some As. Next year I'm not taking any honors or APs, but I know my school gives me an advantage because its known for the rigorous academics. I've been involved in the plays, but no sports. Outside of school, I don't have much going on. Next year I'm playing volleyball and joining the Environmental Club. My GPA is 2.7.. I know I'm just a freshman, but I just want to know what I can keep doing or change because those are the only universities I want to go to.

Answer:
If you are getting mostly Bs and some As, your GPA would be higher than a 2.7, it'd have to be higher than 3. If you do in fact keep getting mostly B's and some A's, and if you fulfill the requirements and do ok on the SATs, you will be able to get into some UCs, and into any calstate.

Well, that gpa seems fishy..... But sure its early in your high school career and you can still improve greatly. Make sure to score well on SAT's and try to take AP/Honors classes.
A 2.7 is a high C average. You would have to score VERY well on the SAT. You should just try harder next year. Your freshman year will not count for very much. Do you live in Cali? Will the schools you apply for know that your high school has a rigorous rep? If it is a private school, then they will likely take that into consideration. You do not have to take honors & AP if that will hurt your GPA. I would just try to get it over 3.0. Also, take some practice SAT tests. If you do well then you should be fine. However, if you do poorly then you may want to look into an SAT tutoring course.
