What do I do if my high school doesn't offer AP courses?

  • I want to get into CalTech, MIT, or some similar school. I want to get a PhD in physics and a Master's in nuclear engineering. Unfortunately, the high school I am already accepted to does not offer A.P. courses because they "do not want to make the regular classmen feel like they have to work less". Is there any way to still get accepted into these colleges?

  • Answer:

If you have a community college nearby, look into applying for credit courses there, which would be equivalent to AP courses in high school. That would really help your admission possibilities for any college/university vs no AP classes. MIT probably accepts one-third or less applicants so do everything possible in advance to be in the one-third that they do accept. Charles
