What is x-ray tech salary?

I want to b xray tech. how long is school and how is salary?

  • Answer:

It depends on what country you're in since the schooling and training for it might differ between countries. I'm in my last year of studying to be an Xray tech/radiographer at the moment. In Australia, you do a university course which is 3 - 4 years (depends on the university you go to), and 1 year as an intern at at hospital - after that you become a fully qualified radiographer. When you graduate you're really only qualified to take X-ray imaging, so after you become qualified you can do further study to specialise in specific types of imaging, usually CT, MRI, US, and sometimes Fluoro/Vascular/Cardiac imaging. In Australia, I think the starting salary for intern/first-year qualified is around $35k - $40k a year, but with more years of experience and whether you do an imaging specialty, it's possible to make around $100k per year. It can depend on where you're employed as well: private hospitals and clinics tend to pay more than public places; rural/country town hospitals and clinics will also pay more than those in local city/suburban areas.
