Where can I find math basic for G.E.D. prep?

High school or GED diploma?

  • I am 18 years old, im pregnant, alone and quit HS during sophomore year which was almost 3 years ago and then tried GED courses at the local Boces for a year and that didn't work either. i have a learning disability with math, i could never understand it for the life of me. every teacher tries helping me and ive lost hope. it really is getting to me now because i cant find a job. If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE help me.

  • Answer:

I dropped out my Junior year, and got a GED. Most jobs that I have applied to, merely ask if I have a GED Or a Diploma, they do not even ask which one. So I would say, just get your GED, personally. It is an easy test.

A high school diploma is a million times better than a GED to any employer because in order to get a GED you have to GIVE UP on high school. And if you are diagnosed with a mental disorder that won't let you learn math, then you can take special ed classes, if you just don't understand math, welcome to the club... And WHY is everyone getting pregnant now?!

Education is important in today's world. I would recommend looking back into the GED classes (possibly at a different location) and they usually have people that can tutor you or assist you with your problem areas. They also have self help GED books that you can review and study. Don't give up hope! It takes time and finding the right teacher.

High school diploma is best, but do what us best for you. It may be too late or real hard to get back into highschool being that you are now 18. Study as much as you can and pass the GED test then go to a community college for an associate degree so that will make up for not having high school diploma. Being a young signal mother will help qualify you for financial aid to help pay for college and get that degree to help you get a decent job and provide for your child who is now your #1 priority. Good luck!
