Do you still get the credit if you failed the course because of the exam?

I guess I should have mentioned this as well: '1 credit' was circled on the paper, but I have no idea what that means? I am not a slacker, so please don't be rude/ ignorant and assume that, it was a Chemistry course that I was having a lot of difficulty with and I really did not understand the work, but I was told to stay in the class because I just needed the credit and it wasn't going to count towards university. I am asking for help on the subject, not sudy tips.

I think it would be smart to ask your school. And next time, studying for the exam and doing your homework can help, so then you wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
