For my UC personal statement should I what should I write about?

What to write for my uc personal statement?!!?

  • Prompt 1: describe the world you come from Prompt 2: tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. I have no idea what to write for either of these prompts :( For the first prompt I was going to write about the area I live in( rancho cucamonga) or about my trip to Indonesia and how it affected me but it seems cliche. For the second prompt I was going to write about a community service event I did and how it changed my perspective on things but that seems cliche as well...so yea help please!!

  • Answer:

It doesn't matter if it is cliche or not (Cliche essays usually get the best grades). The UC admissions officers have been doing this for decades, they practically read the same types of essays over and over again; what stands out to them is personality. Write about something where you can let your personality and passion about the topic shine. That's what gets you admitted into top colleges all over the US.
