I can't focus at all in school?

Why can't I focus in school anymore? :/?

  • I'm in high school, freshman, last year I had all A's and B's. Since I entered high school my grades went low. I'm failing 3 of my classes, I have a gpa of 2.15 :/ I get enough sleep, I'm never tardy, I've never been absent and I've never gotten a detention. But when it comes to paying attention I can't, I seem to start drawing or turn the other way and look at the wall ( I don't know why) And its always in my academic classes (world hist, biology, algebra, art, French ) where I start to get these really bad headaches. And when I do try to focus I get irritated because I dont know what to do. And I feel stupid :/ Is there anything that might help me focus? (Oh and no I don't get distracted by guys -.-)

This is very interesting. Drastic changes in your personality may mean either mental or physical changes that should be looked at by qualified medical persons. For instance, you could be having a physical problem involving a hormonal deficiency or excess. There could be mental stresses in the home or your social life that are causing you to be distracted. It could also be a problem that involves your self-image. You see, public schools in the elementary grades are meant to build you self-esteem and you have been made to believe that you are the simply the greatest. This usually causes problems down the road. The problems arise when you get into Junior High School and you find that , regardless of how good you feel about yourself, you really have to study to make good grades. Puplic elementary schools simply do not prepare you for the academic courses you will have to take to go to college let alone high school. Don't feel like you are alone. Many students like yourself have all the confidence in the world in themselves, but once they find out they really have to study to get good grades, they are confused and become extremely doubtful about their own abilities. This shocking reality may cause you to give up in frustration. My adivice is to forget what they taught in elementary school and get real. Buckle down, teach yourself to concentrate, and set aside time each day to focus on something. It doesn't have to be important. Just teach yourself to focus on something. A flower, a golf ball, a toe, etc. An unfocused mind is not conscious and unless you want to be known as an unconscious person, learn to focus! Here's another tip. Ask yourself why you should study these subjects. In high school as in college, one subject always leads to another. In other words, if I'm studying English Composition, it blends in with Business Law, Biology, and History, etc., because all these subjects require me to write a thesis or essay at one time or another. Business Law 101 will play a part in another course I take in the future involving Accounting or Econimics. In later life, it will pay big dividends if I want to start a business. Always feel that whatever the course your are taking...think about it's benefits in your future. Spend 10 minutes each morning before getting out of bed imagining just what it is you want to accomplish in school,. Do you wnat to be a wishy-washy student who is confused and incompetent, or do you want to be a focused individual who absorbs all that you study and show yourself as the great student you always knew you were?
