Which career cluster should I chose in high school?
-
I really want to be an ER registered nurse or nurse practitioner. In 9 days a have to pick a career cluster for high school and dont know which to pick. There is one that has: Health science education, medical therapeutics, anatomy and physiology, emergency medical services. And the other has: Health science education, diagnostic medicine, anatomy and physiology, and forensics. The first is mainly sport and ER. The other is just general.

Answer:
Your career cluster shouldn't be set in stone, it just helps your guidance counselors know what students are interested in. If your school plans your entire academic future based on the career cluster you chose, you might want to talk to the school district. It's too early for most students to have an accurate idea of what they want to do as a career. It's good that you know already. I would talk to the guidance counselor and ask him/her which cluster would include a nurse. Otherwise I would just choose one and be done with it. Looking at what you wrote, It looks like those are very, VERY similar. They probably should have been combined into one cluster. They both look relevant to being a nurse. The first one DOES have "emergency medical services" and you DID say it's mainly ER, so I would personally choose the first one, but I'm just a random guy on the internet so it's up to you. Your guidance counselor or a teacher would be your best source of information.
