Which cosmetology school is best in Dallas?

Can anyone tell me if going to school to be a hairstylist is a good occupation and does it pay good?

  • I am thinking of going to hair school to get my license in cosmetology and do hair but I want to know is it still a good occupation now in 2010? Also will I make good money right out of school? Does anybody know of a good hairschool in dallas fort worth texas? Any answers, opinions, or advice WOULD B GREAT!!!! Thank you!!!

Look at it this way: There are a lot of these schools. They keep producing graduates. That should tell you that there is a huge turnover in the field. I don't know why and you should find out - I'd work my way down the strip centers and ask the cosmetologists themselves. Most people would be flattered to be asked about their work. You will run into a few grouches though, just like you will when doing that kind of work, so don't take it personally. My guess is that a few do very well, a few people do pretty well, and a lot of people make a living from paycheck-to-paycheck. People that do really well include the "advisors" and "counselors" at some of the private trade schools who work off of a commission. Some, but not all, will be on rip-off reports. I think it's ripoffreports.com but check around. We had a bad experience with one but I can't tell you online which one it is. Any school that advertises a LOT - there is a reason for that. I would avoid any that advertise a lot on TV, radio, or in sketchy ways. The people you talk to should be able to tell you who is the best.... and the worst. Good luck!
