How To Know My School Placement?

High school transfer rejected...?

• I'm starting high school (gr.9) this september and of course I'm automatically accepted into my home school, but I applied for a transfer to another school and got rejected. I gave in my form and reasoning during the transfer period so I should have been given the same amount of consideration as everyone else who handed theirs in during that time. Mine was because of their advanced placement Program, latin and music (Only school in my board that offers the strings program and AP in music and latin). Obviously I'm super disappointed ): Anyways, here's my rejection letter... "Dear (Parents name), I am writing in response to your request for your child, (My name), to be granted a transfer to attend (School name) for the school year 2011-2012. I regret to inform you that your request has been denied because while the application met the required criteria, the transfer cap was at it's limit. All decisions regarding student transfers are governed by the (School board) Policy_____ and Procedures______ and ______: Designated schools/Student Transfers. Please note since the transfer request has been denied, your child should be registered at his/her designated school. You may appeal this decision by writing to me at (School Name and Address). Principals, in consultation with the Superintendent of Instruction responsible for this school, have the discretion to approve a student transfer in response to student need in light of very exceptional personal circumstances. When a request for a student transfer is not granted by a written appeal to the principal, a final appeal may be made to a trustee panel by writing to the Director of Education/Secretary of the Board, (School Board and address). This appeal will be processed in accordance with the _______ Appeal Hearing Panel (Student Transfers) and ______ appeal Hearing Panel (Student Transfer) You may review these documents on the (School Board) website at: (Wed Address). Sincerely, ___________ (Principal) " My parents don't really know english so it was my job to fill in all the forms and write the reasoning. I really want to get in to this school In the third paragragh it says I can write another letter of something? I'm not too sure about what to do, PLEASE HELP!

  If you want to follow the letter and appeal the decision, write a letter (and have your parents sign) requesting an appeal of the decision to the school you want to go to. Explain your situation (the school you want to attend is the only school in the district that has your classes) in the letter. If that does not get you transferred, then send the same letter to the School Board. Good luck!
