How to participate in KBC-4?

Do ivy league schools only want students who participate a lot in class?

  • I'm a sophomore in high school and get all A's (mostly A+'s). I do my homework, self study AP subjects, and I'm in a lot of clubs, but I don't like to participate in class. I'm the type of person who prefers to listen than talk in class. I also don't like to participate often in class because I don't want my thoughts to be out in the open. I took the PSAT as a freshman last year and scored 218. My score was in the 99th+ percentile and I would have qualified as a National Merit Semifinalist had I been a junior. I get good grades and high test scores, but I rarely participate in class (I talk to my friends in class though). Am I not going to get into an ivy league because I'm quiet in class? HELP.

  • Answer:

They don't visit your school and watch you in class, they're not scouts, as long as you're getting good grades then they would never know that you don't participate.
