What are some good boarding schools in the UK?

What are the best and most affordable boarding schools in UK ?

  • My son doesn't want to study. In the beginning I thought it could be a problem of concentration, we went to the psychologist, but doesn't help so much. He changed his program of study from Science to Social Sciences but no result either. He is always changing his mind, going with friends that I think cannot be a good influence, just thinking to go out, to the gym... He is a very good guy however I think he felt he is not able to study and so when he tries and fails sometimes he discourages himself thinking he is good in studies. I have try to motivate by my own and helping him studying, hiring teachers at home to help him....but none of those make any result. He is 17 to 18 he should be finishing the second year of secondary school however he did not pass the first of those academic years. I finally thought maybe sending him to a boarding school where there is a good atmosphere of study, good guys, no distractions... maybe that could be the best solution. I'm really worried about him and that it is affecting personally me. I just would like he to finish the secondary school at least for later he decided if he wants to go anytime in the future to the University or not. Please if anyone can help in recommending me good boarding schools in UK , I really would appreciate that. We are not a millionaire family, but we could afford sending him to other country if that could make any better to him. I have being checking the Internet but when looking for good boarding schools in UK I only can find schools where a year takes about 30.000 euros. That is too much for us. I suppose we could afford to pay the middle of that per year but nothing higher that that. I thank you in advance all your answers. I think if this does not results at least my son have learnt English which is a good start for him to do something in life. I am however some confident in the boarding school solutions as I have been reading there usually show some statistics where you can see the overall good results of any promotion, and the percentage of scholars who finally go to Uni. Thanks to all.

  • Answer:

He is too old for Boarding school here. Pupils leave at 17 or 18, he would never catch up with his education. However my husband went to this one. It has nothing to do with medicine. There are great sports facilities and most of the pupils are from Naval or Army families. www.royalhospitalschool.org UK

Kernow Lady

Be careful of them places. They have a false front. They are known to harbour child molesters etc like the Catholic Church etc it seems. Do your research first and be careful. Good luck.
