Which culinary school should I go to?

I don't know which specialty center to go to for high school? I need to decide by tonight...?

  • Now I don't want to sound conceited but I got into three specialty centers. I won't say the names. High School A- Center for Education and Human Development (Mandatory Class: Child Development) I don't want to be a psychologist or teacher, but I shadowed there, and none of the students I talked to wanted to go into that field either. I have multiple friends going here, but it's also a new center and it's first graduating class will be in 2014. In fact the whole school's first graduating class will be this year. It's very new and modern. They call it a 'green school' because it has lots of sunlight filtering through and pretty much everything has glass windows. They have courtyards where you can eat outside and everything. High School B- My home school. I don't want to go here at all but I guess I still have to consider it an option. High School C- Language Immersion. I've kind of put this out of the question but it's a really cool school and it has an outdoor college-like campus. You can also eat lunch outside. High School D- The International Baccalaureate Program; it's the same school as School C, but it's just a different program within the school. A plus is that it has the outdoor campus and I'm in IB now. To successfully complete the Middle Years Program, I have to go to 10th grade. When I apply to colleges, it would look really bad saying that I dropped out of the Middle Years Program. Then 11th and 12th grade is the Diploma Program. I know less people going to this particular center but in the school overall, it has three centers, so it equals out to School A. Personally, I don't think that a middle schooler should be worrying about colleges right now, but it ultimately all adds up. My father has been making calls to colleges seeing if they like AP rather than IB. Also High School D which is the same as C, is in a poorer part of town. And High School A is in a richer part of the county. So High School A is going to be more competitive with GPAs, just like my home school High School B. Literally the top person in their class has a 5.7 GPA. Whereas a person at High School D who had a 4.0 would probably be top there and at High Schools A and B they might be 100th. If it helps...the main confliction is between High School A and High School D. A's mascot is the Jaguars and D's mascot is the Tigers.

  • Answer:

I guess it's a little bit late, but I'd personally suggest the IB school. I did the IB and it was very hard but totally worth it. I was much more prepared for college than regular high schoolers. Nearly all colleges accept IB these days, and many even offer extra credit. I hope you are happy whichever you choose :)
