I'm stupid. I also hate school. How can I convince my parents to let me drop out?

don't drop out. unless you want to get absolutely no where in life-- then yeah go ahead.

Maybe school isn't your thing. Tell your parents youll get your GED and a job. But I hope you don't have a license, if you drop out it's terminated.

what i will do is to tell my parents that i want home school. For the first couple of days, be like an angel and then make the teacher leave for him to know that you are a MONSTER. If your parents keep getting new teachers, do the same. And durnig the first days ask them about their lifes, that always works. you will see that in NO time you will be 18 and when they want to send you to college, run away! i don't think it's a good idea, and i hate school but i¡ll never leave it! but you asked, i answer

dropping out would not be in your futures best interest. however, if you really get to the point (which it seems like ur already there), where u r truly unhappy and cant seem to accomplish your homework or keep up good grades, i would advise you at least get your GED. I wasnt the brightest or most outgoing academic student and i was more concerned with my social life than my school life. however, i did graduate and even if u dont plan on going to college, it is still a great necessity to have, even for shitty jobs you may come across in the future. your parents will not budge on this b/c they only want what is best for you and in their opinion (and im sure most everyone else's), dropping out would only hurt your chances at a happy, successful life. but like i said, you can always get your GED and still go to college. and you do have interests you just don't know what they are yet. okay, i am 22 and still trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. what i do know is that working some shitty minimum wage job at mcdonalds or walmart is not what is going to make me happy or support a future family one day. do i want to go to college? yes and no. yes b/c i want a brighter future and no b/c i just hate school, homework and tests. But a college degree is not the only thing to becoming successful in life, a lot of it is the people you meet and know and make connections with. this is probly not the answer you are looking for but just trying to help.

You ask for an opinion, but get irritated about people telling you reality? Reality is this, get irritated because you need to hear it. I wanted to drop out for the same reasons. Because I was forced to stay I am now in college excelling and have found my true interests. All the while I'm watching my friends who dropped out struggle with basic necessities in life. Some are lucky if they eat everyday. They have babies that cps is trying to take away and they hate their life. The success stories of drop outs are far and few. Unfortunately society doesn't give many options for people who don't like school, but that is life. Keep hanging there, you only have two more years and maybe by then you'll find a good college. Don't hang onto the fact that others could support you. Your life is based on your decisions and usually the ones that supply instant gratitude are the least healthy. No ones trying to irritate you. What we are saying is from experience and seeing others fall, and we simply do not want to see it happen to you. I hope your parents don't get convinced by you and that with some growing up you will figure your life out.

Hey i'm not like the others and i totally understand. But let me just tell you something you are not stupid just because you get put in classes with all the idiots, i did and i proved everyone wrong. i was told i was stupid and had no hope but i say look at me now bitches! As for staying behind after school i was just like you, i wouldn't, i felt like the lessons were a waste of time and i hated every second of school, i wanted to run away and i wouldn't listen or didn't care about what the teachers had to say. People like you and me are different, we are not academic people and you say you have no interests? Well i bet you have no interest in academic stuff, there are plenty of jobs out there that are not like school. you just have to figure it out. Maybe your interested in the paranormal or something cool like that, you could use it to have a career. I hate it when people are convinced the only way is through school. In my eyes if you happy it's none of their business. Your parents will not budge, they never do but you can either run away, which i don't advise, or you can stick it out until it's your choice. I understand what you are saying, it's tough to do something you don't like. You just need some time to find yourself. Some people may say it's stupid to just quit now but it really isn't. I know some people who finish high school, go onto to college, then go onto grad school and then all of a sudden they have a reality check and start to question if they made the right decision. You don't have to finish high school right now, you can still get your GED if you wish later in your life. Finishing high school does not make you successful and neither is getting a PHD, you can get the highest degree in what ever and be nothing. Do what you feel is right, if you think you need to quit school, quit. I just hope you know what you are getting into.
