How do I catch up in math classes?

How do I catch up in school?

  • I'm a high school sophomore. Around this time of the school year I begin to slack. I'm smart, I guess (in things other than math). I have a D in Geometry because I bombed a test (I normally have a B), I have a B in Spanish, and A's in everything else. I do terrific in my English, art, and social science classes. It's the math, science, and [sometimes] history I have a hard time with. The trouble with those classes is that I have problems comprehending things I learn, concentrating, and being motivated to do my homework. Which is why I have a lot of late work to catch up on this weekend. I don't know what to do. Any advice? Besides "do your homework". I know that, and I would do it if I knew how.

  • Answer:

get a tutor i dont know if your school requires service hours (mine does) but lots of students will tutor you for service learning hours or you can just pay for one im taking geometry this year too and i did the same thing (failed a test and had like a D in the class) then i got a tutor and they helped me a lotttt and i aced my other tests i was able to bring it up to a B for the semester it really helped because theyll help you one on one

Time element is the most important thing to consider, How much time do you have until the deadline for missed or delayed HW, projects, etc.? I applaud you for doing greatly in the other classes. Spend longer time with the math/sciences classes, and if possible be with a classmate who can closely help you explain how your teacher wants the work be done. Or better, you go to the learning center/library and seek the assistance of staff tutors for the particular subject. And next semester or term make your study schedule, game shedule, home chores, and others in black and white; then follow strictly. You will find the best results in your studies. Good luck.
