What would be a good infomercial for the declaration of independence?

What were important values of people living during the time of the Declaration of Independence?

  • What are some values that are important to the people who live and work in the new nation? List at least three values and illustrate their importance with evidence from at least three readings such as Benjamin Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac", Thomas Paine's "Common Sense", and Thomas Jefferson's "Declaration of Independence." I have to write a paragraph for each value so I just really need some information so I can write my assignment. Please help me! Thanks! Any help is appreciated. No rude comments please. I just need help.

  • Answer:

Please go the Library of Congress for the information, as that is where the documents you have mentioned are housed. Going from memory only, these are the values that the people of that time held:- No taxation without representation. Freedom of religion. The right to "pursue" happiness, The freedom to vote, and stand in elections, The right to live without fear, Respect for the law of the land. (there were no laws in the pro-to USA at that time!)(slaves, and Red Indians were pacifically excluded form these values). There were originally 7 of these values, which are still enshrined in Thomas Jefferson's "Declaration of Independence".
