What is the difference between situational analysis and a SWOT analysis?

SWOT Analysis for Chrysler?

  • Hey everyone. For my business management class, I've been asked to do the following: Your marketing consulting company has been hired by Chrysler to determine whether Chrysler should come back to Ajax, where it had an assembly plant, again and try to copy what GM did, namely make a comeback and become profitable in a short period of time. In your answer please do the following: • A SWOT Analysis • Draw a conclusion from the SWOT so that you can present it in a report to Chrysler as to what you think they should do. • Your conclusion should be more than a yes or no. It could include yes with modifications, or not in Ajax, but elsewhere in Durham; or no, until Durham makes a few changes, etc and so on. In other words, include some creativity to separate yourself from the rest of the “herd”. • Approximately 2-3 pages should do the trick. • Reference any material that is not yours. --------------------------------------... Any help would be REALLY appreciated. I've never done a SWOT analysis before and don't know where to start, as I know nothing about Chrysler. By the way, Ajax is just a regular small suburban town in Ontario, so I don't imagine the answer has to be too specific towards the town.

  • Answer:

You Really should have asked Tom/Jay, whoever your professor is, to give you a hand if you had any confusion on the homework. A SWOT Analysis is an approach used to assess a company's fit with its environment by analyzing its Strengths, Weaknesses, Oppourtunities, and Threats (SWOT) pg 80 in your "Introduction to Business Management" book. Here is a link (http://www.scribd.com/doc/2673526/SWOT-Analysis-Examples) that may help you understand what to do for your assignment. As for the Chrysler information, I suggest you Google the information that best fits its Strengths, Weaknesses, Oppourtunities, and Threats. Good Luck :)
