What is the derivative of the function?
-
-
Answer:
F(x) = x^3 – 4x^2 + (3/x) = x^3 - 4x^2 + 3x^(-1) F'(x) = 3x^2 - 4(2)x + 3(-1)x^(-2) = 3x^2 - 8x -3x^(-2) = 3x^2 - 8x - 3/(x^2) When you have ax^b and to find derivative of it, you just have to multiply a by b (exponent of x) and then the exponent of x for the derivative will be 1 less than the original function. In this case, x^(b-1). So, the derivative is abx^(b-1).
