Is this a good name for pet business?

  • Hello, I've been trying to think up a good name for my pet business and have a name that I think is a good one but I want to get the opinion of the general public before I make it final. My business will be pet sitting at first but will expand into other things int he future. Does everyone know what the word Tonic means? It means invigorating, physically, mentally and morally. So I came up with: PetTonic maybe my tag line could be: Reliable, Invigorating, Happy Tails.. That's PetTonic The tagline needs alot of work, but is the name ok? What would you think about a company in your area being called this.. Would it be a place you would call to care for you pet.. or would you be turned away? Thansk for all the opinions.

    A "tonic" is a type of medicinal drink. If you were selling something called PetTonic, I would expect it to be something I give my pet to drink, or add to their food, similar to vitamins.

To be honest I don't looove it, but I don't hate it either. Are you going to have a website or be listed in the phone book? You might want to take that into consideration as you comeup with a name. Also, business cards? How will it look?

I agree with the fact that ';tonics' usually are something taken as medicine (drank rather than eaten) so the first thought wouldn't be for a pet sitting business, I'd be more apt to think you were selling meds. It doesn't really snap a person's mind directly to what you're offering. BAsed on whether the pet sitting is in your home or the owners' home, the name should reflect companionship care. It's hard coming up with a business name, you need to check to see what the competition uses, and see how appealing those names are. Then craft one for yourself.
