Hey everybody I'm Austin and in 13 years old. Two of my friends and I are thinking about starting a lawn mowing business. We don't have much money, but we have a trailer, 2 john deere 135cc lawn mowers, 3 weed-eaters, 2 blowers, a zero turn lawn mower, and most of the little things like: shovels, rakes, etc. We live in a medium sized town in North Louisiana so how should we get customers? Also we can only do this in the summer, and during the summer there is a lot of Competition (other lawn mowing businesses. So if u could help please do it would be great!!! Thanks-- Austin p.s. Email me at [email protected] for ore info if needed

First, never ever again put your personal email on an open site like Yahoo (yes, I am a mother and that's free advice:). Now, if you want to line up customers for next summer: 1. Print up flyers that say something like this: >>Don't wait until next year to plan your yard work - Do it now! >>Hardworking, reliable lawn care specialists - lawns are all we do, and we won't use your equipment or kill your lawn! We have references too. (if your parents and teachers can give you a good recommendation, use them.) >>My name is ____ and I will be one of the people doing your lawn personally. If your parent's will allow it, add a phone number but be careful, because there are some weird people out there:) Ask your parents if you can have potential clients call them instead if that helps. Then, everywhere you go in the area you want to do lawns - leave a flyer. Don't slap them on car windshields or give them to little kids. Knock on doors on the lawns you want to do and act like a grown up. The most important part: Take a notebook with you and write down the address, get their name and phone number. Then in March, start calling them to remind them about your lawn care service and ask when would they like to setup their first appointment. Good luck!

how are you going to get all that equipment around to customers houses since you are too young to drive? - if you can only do it during the summer, then you probably won;t get any regular customers because you'll be leaving them high and dry in spring and fall. why can;t you do it after school and weekends during the school year? In Louisiana, grass must keep growing at least March thru November if not longer and then there is also leaf raking to do in the fall
