How can I get started in the videography business?

  • First a little background info: I'm 16 years old and I have just a regular camcorder its pretty good, but no real professional equipment. I've always been interested in filming and working with video so I figured this would be a good odd job for me. Anyway, I need to get started fast. My goal is to save up a thousand dollars for a vacation in April, and I already have a couple hundred, but I'm going to need to get going. Does any one who is in the business or who knows the business have any tips for me on how to get established and get clients in a timely way?

    I think in college you'll need to take some computer courses, and maybe graphic design. A writing course to hone your writing skills and create a good video game with a good plot outline. Maybe get connected to a video game business. Become a member of a focus group and make connections with people on the inside. Let them know your suggestions, ideas, and your own designs. See where they take you.
