  These days businesses are more global than regional. Kids have access to the internet so if it's a business with products, any states can be targeted. If you are talking about needing a local presence, you should be able to find demographic information through a library search. Just remember that "kids" isn't a group... further narrow down the age, race, interests, and other criteria. Just because a state has alot of kids that would buy in the industry of choice doesn't mean they can afford the products/services. You can have alot of kids in a certain state (or city or county) but if they are too young or old, it's gonna do you much good to target them by state. You're on the right track... just narrow down and narrow down til you know WHO you are targeting rather than WHAT you are targeting. I wish you the best of success.
