How do I advertise for my tutoring business in Utah?

  • I am 13 and I am good in most of the subjects they teach at school as well as fluent in Chinese and know some German as well as English. I want to start a business, but how? How do I advertise? How much does it cost to put an ad in the paper? What are some other good ideas? Could I put up fliers at the Elementary School next to my house?

Set up a fan page n face book, write a blog about tutoring and keep adding content to it on a regular basis, set up a twitter account and target your specific area in Utah, you can also set up a website on one of the free web services such as weebly. You can also distribute a newsletter to local schools. You can write it and print it at home. Also ask if you can speak to local PTA meetings, any community meetings. If there are any foreign language clubs or organizations, let them know what you are doing. But social media is the big one to do first. face book, twitter, and You Tube videos.

Hi Samantha, I'd like to advise you on 2 things. 1. You can write a flyer with all the subjects that you offer tutoring on and copy it and post it to local schools for the attention to parents. 2. I think you need to be a little bit older & have a paypal and / or credit card in order to issue and receive payments online but I'm not sure. But you can check. Let's say - online payments is not an issue. Then - you can offer translation to / from chinese on www.odesk.com, www.guru.com, www.elance.com And you can offer other gigs at www.fiverr.com.
