How do you become a good dishwasher in a restaurant?

Do you have to work in restaurant to become a restaurant manager?

  • i've always wanted to open my own restaurant but i know i need a steady paying income first and a restaurant manager would be the best because it would give me the expierence i need. i've already looked into going to LSU for a degree. would a restaurant higher someone fresh out of college to be a restaurant manager even if they had all the schooling they need or would they require them to first get expierence? what would be the best degree to get for restaurant management/ownership? would it be too costly at LSU for someone out of state? i would attend a community college for my first year. i also want to work and start my business in the new orleans area.

YES it helps. So you understand, say that one day or whenever your main cook is sick or you had a argument with him or her on whatever. Then he or she quit, now you are left with no main cook to make sure the other cooks are doing the cooking right on any dishes. IF you are just a big business or small business major, but with no Culinary art experience, then there NO one to take over. You will be in trouble when it one of your best nights and that happens. sometime it takes time to find a new head cook. Big business or small business major might be good for people who want own like say a mom and pop video store, corner market, mom and pop coffee shop, run a company that own all kinds of business(like a shopping mall, restaurant, movie theaters, and so on), a car dealership, shopping mall, mom and pop used and new book store, a big chain movie theater at a location, partner with some people to a own a sports team and so on. Steve Wynn the mega casino resort owner, he got REAL LUCKY, a graduated from Penn with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. He took over running the family's bingo operation in Maryland, after his father died of complications from open heart surgery in Minneapolis in 1963, leaving $350,000 of gaming debts. Wynn did well enough at it to accumulate the money to buy a small stake in the Frontier Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, That how it all started for him, way before he opened the Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island later and sold it. But NOT everyone that lucky, just look to people like Bobby Flay, and see how he got into a the restaurant business.
