How much do you charge for creating a website?

How much should I charge for Website services?

  • I'm not new to building websites for fun, but I am kind of new to building websites for companies as a service. My question is what is the typical charge for a basic 5 page website? What about if the website is dynamic meaning it changes on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Should I charge for every update made to the site or create a monthly contract? Again, the problem is not creating websites I just have no idea where to start when it comes to charging for them. Any help would be appreciative. Thanks.

  • Answer:

do a contract... Have different packaes written up of say updates once a month is 10 dollars and more updates cost more, say an every day update is say 100 dollars as that is a lot more work, You can make prices you want or feel is appropriate, but this is just to give you an idea. You should be able to look on line and get som ideas of what other web ased companies or websites are charging forwervices. good luck

Back when I was freelancing (which, admittedly, was a few years ago, now...) I charged $150 for a basic 5 page static site. I only provided design and coding, though... I didn't do updates of information (anything that would need to be edited, I dropped in an include file, and they just edited that... prevented them from screwing up anything major). If they wanted a dynamic site (by which I mean an actual dynamic site, with a backend you log into, running off a database... not updates to a static site), I charged by the hour ($20/hour).
