How To Make A Web Site?

How do I start a web site, and make some money with it.?

  • This is just the start of an idea, I'm not really sure what I'm taking about. I have an idea for a web site or a game. But before I go any further with developing rules for a game, I want to know about the business and development end. Can it be done with little or no cash. I have time to put into it, but no cash. I've never done web site design, but I've done a lot of programing, and I'm sure I can do the wet site and data base programing. I have no idea about the hardware part. How do I make money at this?

  • Answer:

Ever consider of turning the game you have in mind into an app? I think you'll make even more money when your game is an app than online. Since you've done a lot of programming, try to study how to create gaming apps that will be accepted in Apple. As for a website, what platform will this game be in? Will it be a flash game? You have to think of a business model: - will it be a pay-for-play site where you first charge them a fee before playing the game - will it be free, but ad supported? Avoid ad programs where you earn by clicks because most gamers will ignore the ads and never click on them. You'll earn much more if you do CPM based ads (where you get paid for every time 1,000 users viewed the ad).

To make money out of the website you can even go for Ad Sense or SMO or some other thing. But if you are not going for any other thing then, I would say go for SEO because generating money online can be easier through SEO services. Apart from that, hardware knowledge is not so very important but acquire to handle minor problems.

If you know how to program why not partner with someone that can create the designs for you? That way you can focus on your core competency. I would recommend that you build your game site in multiple ways - a website, and an app for mobile devices like iPhones and Android phones. You can charge for the app on the various App stores, or you can charge money as an in-app purchase. This means the game is free, but in order to advance more quickly (like buying a bazooka vs. using a free revolver to take down enemies) people will pay you for that luxury. That is how Farmville makes billions. Now I think you need to develop it for several platforms as I mentioned. Besides the mobile devices and a plain old website, it you should make a Facebook app. There are 700 million users on Facebook and Farmville has 250 unique users. It's a platform you can't ignore. If you don't want to pay someone to develop the front end design, Facebook app, or mobile device app you can find partnerships on sites like PartnerUp.com and others. Or start a Kickstarter project and have people donate to it. There Re lots of ways to get your project off the ground if it's a really great idea even if you don't have lots of money.

1) get a payed webhost and domain name 2) get a blogging script (eg wordpress) 3) have interesting blogs so that you will have enough visitors. After you have enough (loyal) visitors, insert ads (start with google ads), but don't make them obnoxious and too much. And make sure they don't stop users from reading your content. If people click on these ads, you get money. Alternately you could do some pay-per-post type of blogs. This means that you review some products and get payed.
