Fundraiser/carnival ideas?

Is it possible to flush out ideas and/or concerns? Or are ideas and concepts always fleshed out?

  • Here is the context. I work at run of the mill business where people use business buzzwords all the time, which is fine to me. But for some reason lately I have become annoyed with people that use "butchered clichés" in place of what they actually mean. For example, more than one person recently has claimed that they want to "touch bases" with me. I might touch base with a colleague, but my bases are off limits. Another example is my aforementioned question. More than one person has told me recently that we are getting together to flesh out or flush out ideas. The internet community seems to all be together on this one. You flesh out ideas and concepts (like you are spreading flesh across a skeleton). And you flush out a toilet or a bevy of quail that are nesting in a tree. However, my question is can you in fact flush out ideas or are all ideas inherently always fleshed out. If your boss comes to you and says the company numbers are down, we need to explore the idea of using a website to sale our products to a broader audience. In this case, you obviously assume a team of your finest co-workers and flesh out the ideas. However, if your boss comes to you and says, the company numbers are down and we are all in this together, each team needs to come up with three ways to improve overall performance. Do you lock yourself in a room and flesh out all the different items, or do you try to unearth hidden concepts and ideas in the recesses of people's brain and try to flush them out first. Maybe you get to a point where you have five different concepts on the table, I.E. lets use some of the new products budget to market our core products, let’s use the web, let’s use the telephone, etc. etc. etc. Then once those ideas are flushed out, you can then flesh out the details to present your case. Anyone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller. Oh and one more thing, try if you will to differential fact from opinion. If there are facts that support one way or the other, then that could be the greatest way to answer...
