How to obtain music licenses as a record label?

  • I am currently opening up my own independent record label online. I want to license musicians music for them as a record label, similar to how a big name record label would do for their artists such as Sony music records. I need to know where and how to do this. The information on the internet is not leading me in the right direction, please can anyone help with this? I really need to know how to obtain a large number of music licenses. Is it basically just copyrighting the music? Would I just have to go through the copyright office or is there another way to do this? Please please give me some help on this. Thanks!

I think by "licensing" you're referring to owning the rights of YOUR artists music? I suggest you get money and a music attorney kid, because you're out of your league. This can only be done through a lawyer, if you want to actually own the rights.
