What is a Civil Bill?

I was serviced a civil bill today in ireland and i don't know what to do now?? please help?

  • Hello, i received a civil bill today and i don't have a clue as to what to do now. I do owe the money and i would love to pay it but i have no money at all i don't own a car or my own home so i don't even have anything to sell. I'm terrified of whats going to happen now. I read all the treads which were a bit helpful but I'm still confused as to what to do. Some advice would be very much appreciated.

  • Answer:

the worst thing you can do is nothing. contact the people who you owe the money to and explain your position. You need to talk to them by letter, but you can start with a phone call or email. In the UK I would suggest you contact Citizens Advice, Ireland probably has an equivalent. If you are struggling to find a similar organisation, ask in the public library where you can get debt advice. Hope you sort it out.
