How do I get a patent?

How do i get a patent easily??not uspto.gov?

  • Answer:

Patents are NEVER free. The process can cost anywhere from $5,000 to as much as $30,000 or even more You have to pay for them based on the complexity of your product and the extent of research you need to do to search whether patents for all or part of your invention already exists. That's why there's a whole lawyering field on patents because it is a complex undertaking Go to a public library or your school library and find a book on how to patent your product If you want free, patent it yourself but be prepared to do a WHOLE LOT of work. Get the book Patent It Yourself by David Pressman http://www.amazon.com/Patent-Yourself-David-Pressman/dp/1413308546/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232032882&sr=1-1

nothing of significant value in life is easy or free, including getting a patent. I am co-holder of three patents, my son has about ten. The attorneys cost tens of thousands of dollars just to file each application. And that's without filing any court actions to defend our claims. Btw, if you do not begin making and selling the item within one year of the filing date, your patent will expire -- so, if you aren't ready to start the business, don't bother filing until you are ready.

Getting a patent is expensive and complicated, as has been indicated above. But you might get some help at this site, which seems to be aimed at helping kids: http://www.inventnow.org/ Good Luck! You should be sure they are actually going to help you get a patent and not just some sort of kiddy pretend thing, before you tell them what your invention is.
