I puchased an item on Ebay and paid for it through Paypal. The item arrived and I paid for it. Now, months later, Victoria's Secret sent me a letter that I owe them money. They claim that the Ebay Seller bought the item from them, his credit card was disputed. Because the item was shipped to me, they say I owe them money for the item. I never purchased anything from them. This Ebay seller was running a scam. I ordered my item on Ebay, paid for it and got it. I had nothing to do with the person who bought the item from Victoria's Secret. Any opinions or ideas? I am filing claims and looking into the legality of this matter.

Answer:
you have no obligation to pay VS - you pat the seller - he/she has your money - it is HIS/HER responsibility to pay their bill to VS - I don't even know how VS would even know about you - sounds like a scam - shred it

Hi, As far as I am aware, the contract that has not been fulfilled is between Victoria's Secret and the seller that sold you the item. It has nothing to do with you. Kind Regards, Rupa PS: If you found this post useful, please give me a thumbs-up. Thanks =)

Ignore the letter. Acknowledging it will only further their interest in recovering money from you. It is no different that someone sending a gift and not paying for it. The problem is strictly between VS and the eBay seller.

You dont owe anything to Victorias Secret as you did not buy from them, they need to get money back from the people who bought from them with the stolen card, you have nothing to do with it
The PayPal $ protection is to protect buyers from sellers. They seemed to lived up to their role by covering the buyer's loss and now they, rather than the buyer, are coming after you for the money back. It is not all one sided. PayPal does investigate the buyer's claim to be sure that it is valid before reversing the charge. I'm rather suspect when you say "virtual item", that can be just about anything. What was it? Please provide an eBay link to the original listing. Also, what exactly was the buyer's complaint? If you sold a trial use software license as a permanent license I could see how at first the buyer would accept it and then only to later be upset it when expired. Is this what you did? If this is so, bad credit will be the least of your problems. This is about the time of the year that cities hire new junior district attorneys. This could be an easy slam dunk fraud case for a newbie wanting to score a few quick points with his new boss. If you happen to get a judge that is up for reelection this fall you could go to state prison. Hope you like out of doors work, several states are now using chain gangs even for first offenders.
