How do you pick a pawn shop?

Can a pawn shop rescind an existing offer?

  • I went to sell a drum set today, and when I went to the pawn shop the guy looked it over. He said he could give me $240 dollars for entire set. I said that I had to go pick up my sister from school and would finish selling them when I got back. I got my sister, came back 20 minutes later. I unloaded the drums because the guy told me to and when I get all of them inside he said he could actually only give me $175. If you make an offer on something, doesn't that offer have to stand? I didn't think it was possible for them to just flat out drop the price when I didn't make a counter offer or anything.

  • Answer:

sure he can. but there are (at least) two possibilities. -He was playing you, figuring that once you had gone through all the trouble to unload the drums and take them into the shop, you would quibble over the difference -Once he saw all the drums, their condition moved him to lower his offer.

Unless it's in a contract, which *no* pawn shop will do, they can do as they please.
