Problem Selling on Ebay - Buyer lying about condition?
-
I have been a member on Ebay for about 6 years and sell and buy things, I usually sell my old textbooks every semester and occasionally other items, and I often buy textbooks and other things I can't find elsewhere. I have never had negative feedback Ever, and I have never had a problem with anything I have sold, everyone has always been happy and left me positive feedback. Recently I sold a "lot" of clothing that my daughter had outgrown and I took clear pictures, and was very clear about what was included in the listing and the condition it was in (everything was in good clean condition) I double checked it before I shipped it and the buyer just sent me an email saying everything had stains and smelled bad, and they were going to have to leave me negative feedback. I offered the person a refund out of fear of my perfect feedback being ruined, but I am really upset and I feel that the person is lying - I know what I sent them and I know there were no stains on the clothing, I checked them just as I check everything I sell. I also don't know why they would have smelled as I washed them right before selling them, but again, I feel as if the buyer is LYING so she can get a REFUND for no reason! After searching for an hour I found a support number for Ebay and spoke to someone I could barely understand who basically told me there was nothing they could do until the person left me negative feedback, and to call back when that happened, which doesn't really help me right now, I would like to avoid that situation, but I'm just really frustrated. As if this isn't bad enough, the only sold for about $10 and I spent over $100 on the stuff in it, I would have been better off dropping it off at Salvation Army or giving it away after everything I'm going through for hardly any money and nowhere near what I spent! I usually have better luck selling lots and at least make a few bucks! Any advice at all would be appreciated!

Yup that's one problem for selling one ebay. I once sold book that's in prefect condition. The buyer admit he bought it by mistake because he can't used older edition. He just left me a negative feedback and ask for a refund. I don't want a negative feedback (selling lot of skateboard stuff on ebay) so i have not choice but to refund his money. I lost the book + shipping. Since then i only sell on craigslist or to a online book buyer The ebay guy is telling you the truth, nothing he can do about it

It's just one of those things! Thier's not alot you can do as refusing to refund will result in negative feedback and they would only get a refund in the long run via the ebay complaint form.. Thier's just no proof the buyer recieved the items in good cond....the only option(and if the buyer would do it) is for him to return the items to you, and for you to refund the money then which is a reasonable request since he has admitted to recieving the item it would give you a foothold if it came to 'ebay judgement' on the refund. BUT the negative feedback? Ebay don't care...trust me. They are not bothered about one users negative feedback. At most you would keep the money.

The best thing you could do is wait till the buyer return the item and then refund it. These days eBay don't really care about sellers and I don't think they will help you in any neg feedback.
