How would you go about donating?

How does the donating hair for cancer process go?

  • I am going to donate my hair for cancer this year, but I still do not know much about it. I read that you have to donate a minimum of 10 inches (is this true, or is the amount more/less), however, my hair is curly. Not tight curls, but loose ringlets and waves. I was wondering if my hair would be cut as it is, or stretched out; there is quite a substantial difference when you pull down the curls. I've also read that some places only take donations in a braid. Will the curls at the end of the braid be stretched out (making it longer)? These are really my only questions, but I would really appreciate any extra information that anyone has to offer. This is my first time donating my hair, so I'm not very knowledgeable. Thanks!

I'm 14 and I've donated my hair twice. Both times they washed my hair for me, brushed it and putit in a ponytail. You are spot on for the 10 inches part. If your hair is longer when wet it will make a difference if not ask the person cutting it if theres anything you can do about it. Hope this helps and good luck donating. It feels so rewarding after you do it. :-)

Different Organizations offer different things. Some ask for 10'' some ask for 12'' for hair. But whatever you do please do not send your hair to Locks Of Love. Their wigs hurt and they're really expensive. I lost my hair a couple years back and now i go to WIGS 4 KIDS. They are wonderful, nice and very flexible about payments(:

It has to be at least 11 inches. Then go to the website and get an envelope sent to you and send it back with your hair. Locks of love.

No cause I have a hair thinning problem with sebacceous glands and I look like a cancer victim although I'm presently not. It's depressing and has ruined my life at this time until I can learn to cope. I'm currently under a trichologist's care. Why can't it be locks of love for other's that need it too??? Such as those with thinning hair problems???? Not just cancer. Hair loss if DEVASTATING for females!! I'm only 33, young, healthy, beautiful face according to my family and friends, but S&*&())(* for hair!!
