Ct scans and radiation risk and that new study and 80 millions ct scans in usa do we need to worry?
-
in 2007 70 millions ct scans performed in usa last year 100 million ct scan performed in usa so i thing all of us got a ct scan in our life even me i got one now we all khnow about that study that talkes about how the radiation we got from ct scan can give us cancer [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[... Brenner and Hall said the dose of radiation delivered in one or two CT scans is roughly equivalent to doses received by atomic bomb survivors in Japan who were 2 miles away from the blast sites when the bombs hit. Studies showing a rise in cancers among these survivors decades after the atomic blasts led to their estimate of risk among people having CT scans today [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[... so can we Compare the radiation from the nuclear bomb to the radiation from a single ct scan so can we said that all of us at risk of cancer from ct scan we got in our life due accident or some symptoms [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[... Based on current usage, Brenner and Columbia colleague Eric J. Hall, PhD, estimate that within two or three decades, 1.5% to 2% of all cancers in the U.S. will be caused by exposure to CT scans [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[... lets say for example from a head ct with and without contrast we got i thing 2 msv im not sure so do the people in japan got that amount of radiation i dont think so i thing they got more do you think that study is correct

Answer:
I would not say this study is "correct" but it correlates to other studies which recommend avoiding numerous CT scans throughout your lifetime because radiation has a cumulative effect and it can take years before any symptoms of cancer may appear which then makes it more difficult to prove a direct cause/effect that a particular cancer was caused by a CT scan.
