What ever happened to the 5th generation iPod Touch?

    Good question. There wasn't enough material yet with which to produce a "new generation" iPod Touch. You are right in stating that the iPod Touch 4th generation is in its second year of production. Expect an announcement for the new iPod (or possibly the cancellation of the iPod line in favor of a tiered iPhone Lite) either this September or October. If Apple decides to continue production (and it looks like they will), it is possible that the iPod Touch will gain 4G LTE services, a 5MP camera, a redesigned case, a bigger screen, or even Siri compatibility. However, it will most likely only get a better battery, camera, and possibly a 128GB model. Good luck! Edit: Actually, Apple is currently on the iPhone 4S. The next iPhone (supposedly) will be the iPhone 5. Just like the iPod Touch, Apple flagshipped the iPhone 4 for two years in a row. And chances are, the iPhone 5 wont be announced until August, October, or even September. The iPod line and the iPhone usually get announced at the same time.
