How to ask a shy/nice guy over text ?

• His name is Chris and I've known him for almost a year now . Short bio about us : He's in 8th grade, I'm in 7th, both play piano, both are sporty, he plays the bells, I sing and dance and model . So you might be thinking "you should ask him out in person" or "you're too young" or something like that . Uh first of all, we're on break and it's two week and it's only a few days into it, plus he's in washington for a week [we live in cali] . Second, I'm not young, actually, more than half of the sixth graders from my school are taken and it's so gross cause they kiss like dogs lol . I've been wanting to ask him out for a few months already cause I've never actually witnessed or heard of a nice/shy guy ask a girl out . I don't want to wait until break is over for personal reasons . My questions are, what do I say ? how do I make it cute ? what can I say that will make it most likely he will say yes ? if he says no, how do I make it not awkward when we go into school ? HOW DO I DO IT ?! Btw do you think it's weird for a 7th grader to date and 8th grader/vice versa ? We're only one year different in age .. Also once we were texting and having an argument and he said because I can't stop thinking about you ! So that made me think that he likes me too :DDD <3 .
