What are the consequences of petty theft?

I live in Florida and yesterday I was arrested for petty theft at Walmart I did not have a purse and a lady followed me outside the store and asked if I would come with her I replied no they didn't get anything on camera and I left the store I later on got pulled by the police and was taking into custody they didn't tell me my charges nor read me my rights I don't know if I should plead guilty or not? And I'm in school for dental hygienistry would that affect me?
