How can I submit an article to a magazine?

  • I'm a published young author, and would like to start submitting articles to magazines and journals. The problem is, I have NO IDEA how to go about doing this. Do I submit a proposed article outline to an editor along with a resume? Or do I write and polish the article before submitting it? How much money should I ask for? Any advice helps, thanks!

    Go to your local library and ask to see Writer's Market. It's a refernce book -- they don't loan it out. It comes out each year and contains all the magazines in the US, telling what they want in the way of articles, what they pay, and how to communicate with them. Good luck!
