The internet is the last great vestige of freedom in this world- but for how much longer?

New legislation to allow GCHQ to access information on demand against absolutely everybody’s email and phone calls / web access and with the tax payer being expected to fund the 200 million bill to have their emails snooped on- can you believe it? It could be said that surveillance of this kind is not new: it's been gradually expanding in the UK over the past decade, from measures that make it easier to obtain permission to monitor communications, to requiring internet service providers to store information on email communications to all their users. Under Ripa, (Regulation of Investigatory Powers) state employees as junior as Royal Mail officers are allowed to ping mobile phones for location information on the basis of a simple, unrecorded, verbal request. So use your mobile phone only for emergency calls, the same for the land line, and only use the internet to acquire information, never use facebook or twitter and destroy email accounts. We shall all have to get used to writing letters again! Well what else can we the general populace do to protect our right of freedom?

Answer:
I look at it this way. In some countries the internet in limited, very much so, by the leaders. They are not allowed near as much access to the internet as we in the west are. Some countries leaders deny the internet to all their citizens. At least we have a choice, to use it or turn it off.
