Is FIT (fashion institute of technology) hard to get into?

How can i get into fashion institute of technology (FIT)?

• so i'm only a freshman in high school but i know FIT is definitely the college i want to go to. i'm taking all the fashion electives i can in high school and i'm planning on taking classes for high school students at FIT. the only thing is i don't know how i can get accepted into this school. i don't know what the requirements are to get accepted. my grades are good but not amazing and im doing my best to bring them up even more. i volunteer at my church as much as possible. i currently work there as custodial crew and next year i will be able to teach religion to kids who are getting ready to make their confirmation. i've always been a really creative person and into fashion. i've been drawing designs for clothes as long as i could remember (all though i've never actually made any of them...). so really i'm wondering what i can do now as a freshman and what i can do for the rest of my high school career to insure i will get accepted into FIT. thanks for anyone who answers :)

  First of all, continue to try to bring your grades up since that is super important. Also, learn how to sew so you will know about basic garment construction. That is key. If you design amazing garments but there is no way to reasonably construct them, then they're just a fantasy, right? Once you learn how to sew, experiment with different fabrics so you know how they can be used in clothing. If you could make your own prom dress and take super good photos of the inside construction and how it looks on the body, that would be a smart thing to do. Also, learn how to make a well fitting pair of pants and a lined jacket. Take good photos of those, too. Inside and out so you can add them to your portfolio. btw, try to learn how to use fashion design software so you're familiar with it and study the game-changing designers of the pas like Vionnet, Chanel, Mary Quant, and Diane Von Furstenburg. They all changed fashion in ways that you still see today. See if your church has a charity outreach that provides clothing to poor kids in other countries. That would be something you could make simple girl's dresses for that would have a fashion element to it. Below is a link to an organization that does that. Take photos of those dress contributions for your portfolio. And keep drawing your designs. Try to develop a distinctive flair to your illustrations. They love that. Good luck!! : }
