Does having an certification on physical therapy aid increase your salary?

Athletic training certification as well as pursuing physical therapy?? Current PT's please help me out!?

  • I will be graduating high school in a couple of months, and lately I have been stressing about my future. I would love to ultimately work as a physical therapist when I'm older, but due to the competitiveness of the field I am looking into other options. Do you think it would be possible and maybe even a smart move to get my bachelor's degree in Athletic Training (w/ certification) and then later on shoot for graduate and PT school? I feel like with this route, either way I have security in a job (whether I get into PT school or not). I just wouldn't want to go through school with the sole intent of PT school and then it not happen. Thanks for the help.

  • Answer:

You need a BS degree anyway. You can get it in anything. AT is fine. If you want to get into PT, just get great grades.
