What would be the value of a mercury cougar 1995?

1995 mercury cougar starting problems?

  • Ok I have a 1995 mercury cougar v8 4.6l engine and it isn't starting at random times. So my car basically starts when it wants to. When I put my key in the ignition and turn it over I hear the fuel pump ingaging and when I try to start it it cranks and all my belts move also but after that it still doesn't start. Sometimes it will try to start when I see my rpms jump jus little bits but other then that nothing any ideas??

    turns over slow could be the starter dragging ! if it turns over normal but won,t start then check the fuel system like the fuel filter because even if the pump is kicking on the filter might be starting to clog up and not letting the gas get to the engine or not enough gas to fire it up !

Ok when you do this , well afthe if started and runs and you r driving does the check engine light come on , if so you can go by advance or auto zone and let them hook up to it and tell you what the code is , if not , if the ck engine light do come on when Driving i would think it would be a fuel problem and to start off with to change the fuel filter under the car on the drivers side you can go a head and get the part so you will know what you r looking 4 when you get it off just try to blow throw it and see if you can , inst the filter and see if that helps and ask them to show you the tool to change it also good luck

My brother had that same problem with his 94 T-Bird, same engine 4.6 V8 Change your sparkplug wires.
