What exactly does the asterisk (*) mean in WPF?

What's up with the asterisk ( * ) in Mathematics when you type it?

  • Answer:

Yes, we do not use the letter x (×) for multiplication (well, we do again in higher level math, but thats a different story). The 'x' is a variable. The sign × can be viewed as the cross product. I prefer to use the dot • ⋅ or · for multiplication. Some people will use the asterisk for multiplication. I dont like it. If you ever see a double asterisk, like 4**, they sometimes use it to mean "squared", as in 4^2 or 4² = 16.
