Irish fiddle music help?

Cape breton Fiddle/Violin Scales arpeggio?

  • So i played music for 12 years i read fiddle tunes strathspeys, reels, jigs and so on really well when the music is written out i under the notes and how to make them just fine. Length values and times and so on... but now i realised i should of been practising scales and now that im 12 years into it i don't know where to start to be practising scales, what scales should i practise, and or what exercises should i do espicially for the cape breton scottish type violin music the dance kind. if anyone could help me out lead me towards something help full.. i also play guitar, and tryin to get at the piano i kinda under the bass section a bit but im alot slower at it.... thanks for anyone who can help me.. i chose best answers!

    I also play the fiddle and the some of the most common keys are D and G so I would practise those scales. All the others wouldn't hurt either but G and D will be the most useful. You can also do what they call "climbing the stairs". This is when you start on a note then skip to 2 ahead then go back 1 then skip ahead 2, back 1 and so on.
